The Mobdro app is back – but users should be on their guard

The popular Mobdro app has officially returned with a website featuring download links for various media devices.

If you’ve been looking for alternative TV for a while, you’ve probably heard of Mobdro, which was an extremely popular live TV app featuring channels from all over the world.

At its peak, it was estimated that over 100 million people accessed the app worldwide, making it the most popular free IPTV app available.

However, it faced significant legal scrutiny and, in 2021, Spanish authorities arrested the creator and shut down its operation with the help of the Premier League and ACE.

Now it seems that, after a four-year hiatus, the app has returned with an official website and an app that works on Firestick, Fire TV, Android/Google Boxes and more.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the APK works in the same way as the original, with various categories/subcategories for channels and much more.

However, that is the only similarity, as the concerns surrounding this app far outweigh the benefits. If you are considering installing and using this app, please ensure you proceed with the utmost caution.

Before accessing any channel, you are presented with the following screen indicating that your “idle resources” will be shared via the Luminati Proxy. This includes your device’s IP address if you agree to remove adverts.

However, even after getting past the prompts asking us to select a channel, we were unable to play the content, as the message stated: “Can’t load data. Please check your connection.”

The current version (V2.2.8) can be found on the “official Mobdro website”, which is mobdro.cam/mobdro-apk-download.

Only the “Download Mobdro” link hosts the Mobdro app, but users should be aware that there are numerous malicious files associated with the APK.

Please proceed with caution

All these signs lead us to believe that the latest Mobdro app/website is a fraudulent site seeking to profit from the name of the once-famous app.
