ANACOM is collaborating with the Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANFR), the body responsible for managing the radio spectrum in France, to oversee spectrum usage during the Paris Olympic Games, which will take place from 24 July to 11 August.
In total, ANACOM is sending a team of six technicians to Paris, who will join the spectrum monitoring and control teams at the Games and will be responsible for checking users’ equipment, verifying technical parameters in accordance with the licences granted, resolving interference in all radio systems used, in order to ensure the smooth operation of digital mobile networks, satellite links, telemetry, transmitter microphones, video links between cameras and production control rooms, and 5G systems used for various purposes and applications.
ANACOM has extensive experience and consolidated expertise in supporting large-scale events, alongside specialized technical capabilities that have been amply demonstrated in scenarios of high operational complexity. It was the recognition of this proven capability that led ANFR to invite ANACOM to join the operational spectrum monitoring teams at the Paris Olympic Games, in order to ensure the necessary conditions for the correct use of the spectrum, without constraints or interference, at this major competition of great international significance and prestige.
It should be noted that ANACOM has already participated in a number of international events, such as the recent World Youth Day in Lisbon; the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018; the London 2012 Olympic Games, in collaboration with the UK’s OFCOM; and the 2004 European Football Championship.
ANACOM will be monitoring proceedings on an ongoing basis until the final day of the event.
